About Janet

Janet’s Underground Bowen Therapy is based in Coober Pedy, South Australia. Janet has trained for eight years. Her qualifications include an Advanced Diploma of Bowen Therapy, Specialised Bowen Levels 1 and 2, and Mind and Body Bowen certification. She works gently. She treats the whole body, not just the sore spot. She takes time to understand what brought each person through the door.

Meet Janet

By the time most people find their way to Janet, they have already tried other things. A doctor’s visit, maybe. Physiotherapy, maybe. A few painkillers that took the edge off but never quite solved anything. Some are sceptical. They wonder if something this gentle could actually help. That is a fair response to being let down before.

Janet does not rush. She does not start by poking the sore spot. Instead, she works with the rest of the body first. She lets it relax. Then she asks something of the area that is actually causing trouble. It is a different way of working. It takes a bit of trust. Janet meets people exactly where they are. She lets the body respond in its own time.

Before Bowen therapy, Janet spent years working in natural resource management. She was out in the landscape, not behind a desk. That background shows up in how she thinks about the body. Nothing in a system works alone. A sore shoulder is rarely just about the shoulder. A struggling patch of land is rarely about just one thing either. Everything is connected. Lasting change comes from working with the whole.

What Janet has trained in

Janet has trained in Bowen therapy for eight years. She holds an Advanced Diploma of Bowen Therapy. She has completed Specialised Bowen Levels 1 and 2. She recently finished Mind and Body Bowen certification. She has also attended the International Bowen Conference to keep learning from practitioners further afield.

Over the years, Janet has worked with a wide range of presentations. Frozen shoulders. Rolled ankles. Jaw pain. Migraines. Emotional strain that people struggle to put into words. Every session starts with listening. What brought you in matters as much as what Janet finds once you are on the table.

What does Janet do outside Bowen therapy?

Janet also works as a ranger and environmental consultant. She spends a good part of her time out in the bush. She manages land, weeds, and feral animals. It is not a separate interest sitting alongside Bowen therapy. It is the same philosophy, applied in two places.

Looking after a landscape means paying attention. Everything in it depends on everything else. Looking after a body works the same way. Janet brings that same patient, whole-system thinking into the therapy room. It shapes the way she works with every client.

A trusted local practice

Janet has worked with three generations of the same family in Coober Pedy. She regularly receives referrals from a trusted local remedial massage therapist. In a small town with limited options, that kind of trust is not handed over lightly.
